Introducing Ellara
I've been planning to write a story inspired by Ghibli movies, so I decided to pick up the pen again. Enough gouache, it's time to get back to digital art
I made this character, let's call her Ellara. I won't reveal the storyline publicly right now, but eventually expect something from it to show up on this website. It's going to be set on a tiny island in my Earth-sized world. I really did build the whole map just to write tiny, isolated stories, but that's part of the fun
Here is the final sketch/lineartish
After coloring, I don't feel like completing this but I might return to this or a similar pose later on. My rule is to never forcing myself to finish art I do not like, not sure if it's right or not but it does keep me away from burnout given I love to do other things with my time aswell.
Well, I don't think I'm doing this right. I'm over thinking about lineart and it makes it worse, I don't know if it's my tablet or digital pens in general, but lining digitally is way harder than doing it on paper. I usually make more realistic art so I keep over-rendering this, A Tutorial would be helpful, I really want that translucent anime look. Also I feel like I might have overdesigned her a little, I'd change the bust and remove the waist ribbon, it looks too doll like, fine to wear on your own but perhaps odd for the apothycary role I want her to play, I'd like the proportions and design to be subtle and realistic. Let's see.
