World-Building Update
I have started rebuilding my map with considerably more detail and an obsessive amount of data. I am using real-world elevation data to essentially photobash the terrain algorithmically, which should give me a much more convincing geographical foundation to work with, and I'll do granular erosion sims to fix it all up,

This is one of the regions of my map at 32K resolution. I'll be running global simulations on it and using Gaea for more local rendering, although there is still quite a bit of work left.
Last time I did take some artistic liberties off my Rock 3 simulation, which I was quite happy with, but I am now retrofitting the tectonic structure again to bring back some of that geological realism, it has lost all resemblance to the original Rock 3 map. It is a bit of a give and take, really. You cannot have everything at once, and sometimes getting the overall appearance right means compromising on the underlying geological accuracy, or vice versa⸺ however, you can always go back and fix those things with some tinkering. That is part of the process. I would rather have a map that I am proud of both geographically and artistically than one that is technically accurate but doesn't quite fit the world I have in mind or vice versa. I'll see how far I can push this⸺ and look at the sea, isn't it very pretty?
